"Norman, my love. It's hard to
believe this whole thing, this
book, started with an over-
whelming desire to talk to you,
when I sat down ibn Paris and
wrote, 'A letter to my darling,
husband' and then painfully
had to add,' … on the first
anniversary of his death."

Thus begins Fern Field Brooks's odyssey through the first year of mourning for her beloved husband, Norman Brooks. "Letters to My Husband" is the ultimate result of her touching, heartrending, yet often humorous journey, which offers comfort and inspiration to anyone has suffered the loss of a loved one.

The heart-warming story of the first year in a rescued kitten’s journey. From a gutter in the Bronx, to a fancy condo in Manhattan, and weekends in the Hamptons, the kitten named Destiny quickly adjusts to her new life-style.

It’s also a view of the 60s and us human beings from a cat’s point of view as she tries to get her adopted parents to understand that “humans often make things far more complicated than they need to be”.

After meeting her soulmate, Dimitri, a regal Siamese, and giving birth to her seven kittens, Destiny and her offspring find themselves embroiled in the roller coaster ride that became her adopted parents' lives.

Unexpectedly she and her brood find they must constantly adapt to new places to live, assorted roommates, hotel rooms, and other strange surroundings as their humans, Fern and Konny, try to figure out their own lives.

As Destiny says, “It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but Fern and I managed to survive.  She went on to become an award-winning TV and Film producer, and I became an award-winning author!”

Experiencing her very first earthquake on her first night in California does not endear Los Angeles to Destiny as she ponders what is happening to the floor that’s doing a jig under her paws.

Jumping onto the bed and waking Fern from a sound sleep, Destiny manages to convey exactly what she thinks about this new experience. And as usual when these two find themselves in a sticky situation, Fern reaches out and gathers Destiny close to her chest.  “Relax,” she whispers, “It’s OK.  It’s only a mild earthquake. It happens all the time here in LA!”   Really, thinks Destiny – so why are we here?!”

But here they are and the final part of their journey together turns out to be the wildest roller coaster ride yet - with good and great things followed by inexplicably strange, and unexpected moves.

In any case, they face – and survive - the ups and downs and at the end of their journey together Destiny and Fern find themselves at a point in their lives where their most cherished dreams seem to finally be coming true.  A happy ending we hope you will enjoy!
